Interim Final Rule requiring SNFs to offer COVID-19 Vaccine and report to NHSN

CMS published an Interim Final Rule on COVID-19 Vaccine Requirements on May 11th. This rule requires nursing homes to offer the vaccine to all residents and staff as well as report vaccination rates weekly to CDC NHSN portal along with any treatments for COVID. This rule applies to residents, clients, and staff of Long Term Care (LTC) facilities and Intermediate Care Facilities for individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICFs-IID). CMS also published a Quality, Safety, and Oversight (QSO) memo to state survey agencies on this. The rule is scheduled to go into effect on May 21, 2021. This webinar will review specifications of the rule and what you need to know to comply.

  1. Identify parameters of the new Interim Final Rule as it relates to education

  2. Discuss vaccination requirements for compliance.

  3. Report to CDC via NHSN for data including vaccination status and therapeutic treatments (e.g., monoclonal antibodies).
