Part II: Practical Application & Strategies- AHCA/NCAL Antipsychotic Toolkit

A comprehensive process must be followed to determine if the use of antipsychotic medication is appropriate. A disciplined approach including proper assessment and non-pharmacological management strategies is important to prevent unnecessary antipsychotic use. In this webinar, the presenters will describe practical strategies and application to behavioral management, which can be guided by use of the AHCA Clinical Considerations of Antipsychotic Management Toolkit.

Learning Objectives:
1. Understand how to apply clinical reasoning and decision making to identify appropriate and monitoring of antipsychotic medications.
2. Identify a process to determine pertinent person-centered approaches including non-pharmacological and pharmacological interventions as appropriate.
3. Recognize how to monitor individuals receiving psychopharmacological medications, and when to continue, reduce or stop these medications.
