Welcome to AHCA/NCAL’s “Independent Owners In-Focus,” a series of webinars curated for owners of 10 or fewer skilled nursing and/or assisted living communities.  The content focuses on the unique needs of IOs and makes connections to AHCA/NCAL services and programs designed to meet those needs. These pre-recorded events for Independent Owners (IO) will be released throughout the year, cover a wide variety of topics, and may reference additional education and information available on ahcancalED.

    Lisa Pearson, MSN, RN, CIC

    Director of Infection Prevention and Quality Improvement

    South Davis Specialty Care

    Lisa Pearson, MSN, RN, CIC is the Director of Infection Prevention and Quality Improvement for South Davis Specialty Care. Throughout her more than 20-year career in the post-acute care industry, Lisa Pearson has worked in a variety of roles and settings, from working as a CNA at an assisted living facility to her current role at a South Davis Specialty Care (respiratory and pediatric post-acute care). She is also an online instructor for BYU-Idaho. Her credentials include a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Vanderbilt University and Board Certification in Infection Prevention and Control. Lisa has previously served as a local chapter board member for the Utah Assisted Living Association, the Utah APIC Chapter, and a Senior Examiner for the American Health Care Association. In her spare time, you can find Lisa running, traveling, and spending time with her family. 

    Kristin Thrun

    Administrator and Director of Operations

    Kristin Thrun earned her undergraduate degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI in 2002 and her master’s degree in Business Administration and in Public Health at St. Xavier’s University in Chicago in 2006.  She became a certified professional in healthcare quality in 2020.  Kristin is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator with 20+ years’ experience in systems development and operation management for skilled nursing facilities.  Facilities have been awarded the American Healthcare Association Bronze, Silver, and Gold Quality Award under her direction.  She has extensive experience in implementing programs and processes to improve clinical outcomes and maintain regulatory compliance.  She currently serves as the Director of Operations for a multi-specialty physician practice and a quality assurance consultant for Burgess Square Healthcare and Rehab Centre.
